Reddit Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Mar 2023 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My interview started with a very tight technical screen structure.

I had a short introduction, then I discussed my current project and how I approached the technical parts. After that, I was given a four-part programming question that wasn’t presented like standard LeetCode. I finished two parts and used the remaining time for Q&A, and the whole thing felt like it was designed to see how I break problems down and keep working through partial progress.

The timing was clear and structured, with the programming portion taking the bulk of the session. The experience felt challenging in a different way than a single algorithm question—less about one final answer
