I ran into a process centered on React work where the live coding portion felt rushed and not very reflective of real-world engineering.

Take-home React challenge — a React-focused assignment after the recruiter chat; it was relatively simple and took under about an hour.
Live coding with an engineer — a 1-hour implementation task focused on building a lot of functionality quickly; it felt like the only way to finish was to cut corners, and I wasn’t able to reach a working result. Outcome: I didn’t move forward; my takeaway was that time pressure mattered more than code quality, UX, or edge-case handling.
