San Francisco, CAPosted Mar 2009 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I had a first phone screen and then discussions that felt relevant, friendly, and interesting, with some real challenge rather than just small talk.

They also gave me a take-home programming task that wasn’t overly hard.

The technical interviews were going fine as I moved through them, and I felt like things were progressing in a normal way. Then midway through, the direction shifted completely. They changed their mind about the position they’d been offering, and once it turned out the role wasn’t what had originally been discussed, the process stopped pretty abruptly.

I didn’t receive an offer, and the abrupt change in what they were hiring for was the most surprising part. It made the whole process feel less stable than it initially
