I got routed into a code test that felt more demanding than I initially expected.

I didn’t fully notice they were looking for a certain level of structure—things like testing—and they also leaned heavily on algorithms. Partway through the experience, I realized I was missing the kind of completeness they wanted, especially around how to frame key elements of the solution.

What really threw me off was how variable interviews can be: even if someone is strong on capability, if they haven’t done structured algorithm-style interviews in a while, it’s easy to misread what the interviewers consider “correct” in terms of presentation and completeness.
