I kept it pretty straightforward at the start: I had a phone call with HR where the interviewer asked a handful of common questions.

After that, I was rejected.

What made it harder to make sense of was that I wasn’t sure whether they were actively hiring at the time, since there had recently been a large layoff. With no additional context, the whole experience felt abrupt.

In the end, there wasn’t really a longer interview journey for me to evaluate, and my reflection was mostly about uncertainty—having the process stop right after a basic HR screen left me without clarity on whether it was a role issue or a fit issue.
