Point72 Software Engineer interview experience

The problem felt poorly chosen, and it strongly depended on very specific knowledge of the core Java API—stuff that many developers wouldn’t use day to day. That made the whole thing feel a bit misaligned with real-world engineering work, because the knowledge could be learned quickly on the job, but the timed nature of the assessment left little room for that.

I didn’t move forward after the HackerRank, and honestly the whole experience left me with the impression that the task would filter out decent developers for reasons unrelated to how they’d perform once the work context was clear.
