When I joined the interview, it started with a classic intro and then quickly moved into my background work.

I was asked to talk about one of my projects, including where I got stuck and how I handled those challenges.

After the project discussion, the technical topics shifted into more fundamentals: we covered SQL joins and then I explained my approach to designing an ETL pipeline. That part felt like they wanted a narrative of how I think through data flow and transformation, not just a list of buzzwords.

I didn’t end up getting an offer. Still, the round felt productive because it was anchored in my own experience and then connected directly to practical engineering concepts.
