My interview run leaned very hard into SQL coding assessments, and it felt like the bar was mostly about how I handled complex query logic.

The first round was entirely SQL on HackerRank and lasted about 45 minutes. The questions focused on things like window partitions, advanced joins, and aggregations. The interviewer cared a lot about how I thought through the problem—even when I made some syntax errors, logical mistakes were what really mattered.

The difficulty felt difficult because the questions progressed from easier to harder, including advanced joins, window functions, and heavy aggregations. I remember needing to solve at least one of the hard questions or get a couple of medium ones correct to be competitive.
