My journey leaned hard into the Forward-Deployed flavor: ownership of ambiguous problems, lots of communication, and technical rounds that weren’t just “solve this algorithm.” After an initial recruiter screen and a couple of engineering-focused steps, I moved into rounds that looked like coding + reasoning, then shifted into learning and decomposition.

In the learning/decomposition stage, I was given a scenario and had to learn a new concept while treating the interviewer like an active resource. Then the decomposition portion asked me to break an open-ended prompt into a relevant problem space and propose what tools or approach I’d use. It felt closer to system thinking than LeetCode, because the evaluation was about how I structured the work and how I handled feedback while iterating. I also saw a few variants of this: an “analysis” style problem that was like a simplified decomp with guidance, and a decomp that required deeper, more
