OpenAI Software Engineer interview experience

After I passed that, they scheduled a phone screen that was also coding-based. Once I cleared that, I got pulled into a full onsite loop.

The onsite ran like a marathon: it included a take-home assignment and multiple interview rounds that started in the morning and ended in the evening. The overall structure felt comprehensive, with enough checkpoints that it wasn’t just a quick technical audition.

I didn’t end up getting an offer. Still, the process format was memorable because it clearly emphasized depth and sustained performance across the day-long onsite and the take-home component.
