San Francisco, CAPosted Nov 2024 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

After applying online, I was quickly given a take-home project that required a significant time commitment.

After that, I had an initial recruiter chat and then a technical interview with a senior engineer.

The technical interview felt discouraging almost immediately. Even though I solved the main problem, I kept getting a stream of follow-up questions that made it feel like rejection was already inevitable from their perspective. It also didn’t feel like the process was respectful of the effort being invested.

I didn’t get an offer, and my takeaway was that the time sink of the take-home wasn’t matched by a sense of fair payoff from the interview loop.
