I went through a technical pre-screen for a data analytics internship on an experimentation team.

They gave me a week to prepare, which made it feel more intentional than a same-day test.

The pre-screen itself included a 30-minute coding segment where I had to write in R or Python, and then I answered three theoretical questions. Even though the timing was tight, the format was clear: coding first, then the conceptual side.

I didn’t end up moving forward to an offer, but the process felt fairly balanced. What stuck with me was how the theoretical questions made it easy to see whether I really understood the concepts behind the coding rather than just executing syntax.
