My interview process was presented as multiple meetings, but they didn’t really function like traditional interviews.

I sat through several sessions that were mostly them talking about the position while I barely shared any of my experience.

The bigger surprise came at the end of the long process, when it became clear the job was essentially sales via cold contact—calling people I knew and selling through personal networks. They talked about “teaching” how to pitch in a way that didn’t sound like you were selling products, even though the core work was still that initial selling. I left feeling that the label “advisor” was misleading compared to the reality of what the role involved.
