Mercor Software Engineer interview experience

I went into the first round knowing it would be AI-based, but the experience still wasn’t smooth.

I was interrupted by an AI agent multiple times while I was trying to respond naturally and keep going through my thoughts.

When I wanted to stop, the session didn’t behave the way I expected—it just went silent with no response, which made everything feel awkward. Instead of feeling like a clean interview flow, it felt like the conversation had technical or interaction gaps that I couldn’t control.

I didn’t get an offer, and the biggest thing I remember was that the AI handling created uncomfortable pauses rather than a clear, guided evaluation.
