I had a fairly standard progression: first an HR phone screen, then meetings with the hiring manager and other members of the team, and finally a round with the head of the department.

Each stage felt smooth and I could tell they were organized about moving me forward.

Even with that, the waiting after the final round was hard. I didn’t hear updates for a while, and when I reached out myself I learned they’d decided to go in another direction. The disappointment wasn’t just the result—it was how much I had to chase an explanation after going through three to four rounds.
