I got an email asking me to schedule a phone screen and filled out a form with three different times I was available.

A recruiter replied quickly saying one of the proposed times didn’t work, without giving details on which one. We ended up settling on a late Friday afternoon, and the call itself felt pleasant.

Even though the conversation went okay, I got an automated denial two days later—on a Sunday afternoon during a three-day weekend. It was hard to reconcile the friendly tone of the phone screen with how quickly the process shut down.

That timing and the instant nature of the rejection made the whole experience feel abrupt.
