My process started with a phone screen with an HR recruiter, and then it shifted to a more skill-based interview with a data scientist.

The focus was squarely on statistics and research design, specifically in the context of ride-hail.

I remember having to think carefully about how to design and interpret analysis rather than only do calculations. The questions felt targeted toward how I’d approach real-world uncertainty and study structure for ride-hail scenarios.

The overall experience was difficult for me, and it didn’t end with an offer, but the framing made it clear they cared about rigorous research thinking more than superficial familiarity.
