My Lyft data science process had the same core shape that I’d heard about: a recruiter outreach and then a take-home assignment that ended up consuming a huge amount of time.

The assignment itself took me 30+ hours, and it was genuinely hard to accept how much effort it required.

What stood out most was what happened when I tried to get feedback afterward. They refused to provide much more than a brief comment that the presentation looked nice, which felt incredibly dismissive considering how much work I’d put in.

By the end, it wasn’t the technical challenge that annoyed me most—it was the lack of meaningful feedback after I’d spent that kind of time.
