I ended up getting pulled into the process a friend had recommended, and it turned into five interviews total.

I did the usual work of looking into the company ahead of time, and I came across details about layoffs that made me rethink whether it fit what I wanted. Even though I was already in motion, I ultimately backed out rather than keep going.

The weird part for me was realizing how much my decision was driven by what I found after I’d started, not what happened during the interview rounds. By the time I’d connected all the dots, I didn’t feel good about continuing. I didn’t end up getting an offer, and honestly I felt relieved once I stepped away.
