I went through the whole process with a lot of optimism at first.

The recruiter call was casual and typical, and then I had an in-person technical interview with two senior staff. We went over my projects and experience, covered basic JavaScript or Java concepts, and ended with algorithm whiteboarding. As part of the visit, they also walked me through the office.

The next stage was a longer take-home technical test: a three-hour build where I had to complete parts of a web app, and it was all React front-end. It didn’t feel like the most accurate reflection of my strengths since the direction didn’t align with the focus they seemed to infer about me.
