My first step involved an online test rather than a live interview.

I was sent an invite to a timed HackerRank-style assessment with multiple parts, each focused on a single theme. In one version, it was Excel-based with three tasks that had to be completed inside a 90-minute window—though realistically the work felt like it fit closer to about half an hour.

In the other online assessment, the test was a single Hackerrank with three connected questions. The time limit was an hour, and the sections built on each other so I had the chance to reuse earlier code rather than starting from scratch.

Either way, the vibe was that attention to detail mattered more
