Jane Street Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Sep 2024 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

The setup felt like they wanted me to build out a program in a clean, organized way with at least a few distinct parts, almost like a mini project broken into components.

Because the walkthrough and execution expectations felt strict, the round became more about how well I matched their preferred layout than about solving a single isolated coding prompt. That made it stressful, and I didn’t manage to reach the passing point on their evaluation.

I didn’t get an offer. The frustrating part was that the interview felt like it had a very specific style goal, and I didn’t land in the right place
