Jane Street Software Engineer interview experience

Instead of broad behavioral questions, I spent a lot of time talking about relevant experience and how I would apply it to this role.

It felt like the interviewers wanted concrete examples and a clear way of mapping past work to the kinds of problems they expected to face. I had to stay sharp and align my answers to what they cared about.

I didn’t end up getting an offer. Looking back, the interview made the bar feel very high in terms of both depth of understanding and the ability to connect that depth to practical application.
