I received an email that looked like an official interview request, but when I opened it, it turned out to be an ATS-style screening with yes/no questions and no room to add context.

I assumed there would be flexibility, since I had prepared for an online interview, but it ended almost immediately after I didn’t answer “yes” to every screening item.

Because it was such a fast, binary gate, it felt less like an interview and more like an automated filter. I didn’t progress, and I never reached any recruiter or technical conversation. The only real surprise was how quickly the process closed after the first few questions, which left me feeling like there wasn’t any opportunity to demonstrate fit beyond the rigid screening criteria.
