After an initial recruiter screening call, I was asked to talk through my background and share more about the role.

That first conversation was fairly straightforward and set expectations for what the next steps would look like.

About a week later, I completed a technical screen where the focus shifted to my technical background and how I handled the material from the take-home. The take-home assignment was given first, and then I had an interview to walk through my approach and decisions in more depth. The whole experience felt moderately paced and more competency-based than puzzle-heavy, and it left me feeling like I understood what they were evaluating—just not that it was enough for an offer.
