My interview started with a presentation on my previous scientific research, and then the panel moved into questions right after.

The structure felt deliberate: they wanted me to clearly explain the work, and then they tested my understanding through follow-ups.

After that first section, I went into a second phase that focused on how I work day to day, including “ways of working” style questions. They also gave me a chance to speak with the lab directly, not just the people on the formal panel, and I got to tour the lab and facilities. Even though it was a lot to take in, the format helped me feel grounded because it connected the discussion to the environment I’d actually be working in.
