IBM Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Jan 2026 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I completed a HackerRank online assessment for a software developer role at IBM, and it consisted of three coding questions.

The test was the main technical checkpoint before any later stages, and it felt like the first gate for filtering.

I don’t have much detail beyond the structure of that OA-style assessment, but I remember the experience being focused on coding rather than anything broad. I didn’t end up with an offer, and what stuck with me was how quickly the process moved to just one concrete technical test.
