IBM Software Engineer interview experience

The whole process took about a week, and instead of live coding, I was given two coding questions to solve as part of a take-home style task.

The first problem was like the Merge Intervals family, except the inputs were process IDs and their run times, and I had to determine which process ID accumulated the most total runtime. The second question asked me to compute the maximum number of consecutive set bits in a number, which leaned heavily into bit manipulation. I solved both pretty quickly—around forty minutes—but it still didn’t lead to the next round.

I only later found out the role
