The first part of my process felt conventional: the recruiter moved things along, and then I went through a sequence of interviews that centered on my scope, how I handled roles and experience, and general fit.

People were friendly and the rounds didn’t feel overly taxing while I was in them. I remember thinking it was a solid, normal evaluation—questions that mapped to the work rather than weird curveballs.

The process ended up stretching to a final decision stage where it was communicated that they were close to making an offer, then later I received an email saying they’d gone with someone else after a final catch-up. That delay between “nearly there” and the rejection message was genuinely disheartening, especially because there was no detailed feedback to explain what swung it.
