I prepared for a difficult interview loop that heavily emphasized optimal DSA and system design trade-offs, plus alignment with Google culture.

DSA rounds — questions required optimal solutions rather than just working approaches.
System design — I needed to explain trade-offs clearly.
Googliness / leadership fit — I had to show I understood the culture, and preparation guidance included reading resources about how the company works. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer, and the takeaway is that the bar assumes you can both optimize and articulate design trade-offs.
