Google Cloud Software Engineer interview experience

I got all the way through the onsite steps, but the company wasn’t able to hire for the level I was being considered for.

Headcount shifted after COVID, and by the time they had the opening again, my prior onsite pass no longer aligned with the available role.

The experience was frustrating mostly because it wasn’t about my performance anymore—it was about timing and logistics on their side. I didn’t receive an offer, and the biggest reflection I had afterward was that even when interviews go well technically, the business calendar can still override everything.
