GitLab Software Engineer interview experience

No offer

Negative

CanadaPosted Jan 2021 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My interview journey started with screening steps, then an interview, and eventually a take-home coding challenge.

I applied for a Go developer position and did the work expected of that role, including completing the assessment.

What happened next was a rejection that, at least to me, didn’t line up with the effort I’d put in. The stated reason boiled down to a lack of Ruby/Rails experience, which felt like a mismatch to the role I applied for.

I never got an offer, and the main thing I took away was how unclear the decision criteria felt relative to the job description.
