I had an AE interview experience that felt impersonal and overly strict about STAR formatting.

Behavioral interview — the session ran like a strict question-and-answer format with limited rapport-building.
Camera off / rigid tone — the interviewer kept their camera off and maintained a non-conversational demeanor.
STAR enforcement — when I didn’t explicitly structure my answer in STAR, I was told I didn’t follow the STAR format. Outcome: I didn’t move forward—the takeaway is that the interview style can override how well you actually address the prompt.
