I interviewed for a Software Engineer role with a difficult-feeling, highly thorough process in late 2025, heavily centered on my background.

Comprehensive interview (experience and education deep-dive) — I was asked a lot about my education and experiences, with questions designed to surface examples of my skills.
STAR-style behavioral discussion — I used the STAR approach to explain situations, tasks, actions, and results.
Outcome: I did not receive an offer; the takeaway was that depth and specificity in your examples is what drives these rounds.
