I walked into a fairly simple, conversation-style interview that didn’t feel like a high-stakes test.

They asked me about my sales experience, but the bigger emphasis was on customer service—how I’d help someone find what they needed and keep the interaction positive.

The questions also pulled in a couple of lighter, more personal prompts. I remember talking about shoes and how I’d guide a customer toward the right pair, along with strengths and weaknesses and what I considered the difference between customer service and customer experience. I was also asked about why I wanted to work there, which gave me room to connect my interest to the way the store operates.

The whole thing felt easy
