Flexport Software Engineer interview experience

Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I interviewed for a Flexport SDE II role and ended up comparing offers and offers-in-hand.

Flexport’s package was in the 160k base range with additional components, and it clearly set a baseline for negotiation even though the headline numbers weren’t the only thing that mattered to me.

What made this process stand out was that I wasn’t just evaluating a single offer—I had a Microsoft counter on the table with a different structure tied to promotion and compensation plus a separate special award. Ultimately, the details of the compensation mix and how the other offer framed level growth were what I focused on when deciding, more than the day-to-day interview mechanics.
