The interview started with a self-introduction, and then the conversation turned to how I used AI while coding—what tools I used, why I used them, and both the benefits and drawbacks.

The interviewer said something along the lines of AI being better at LeetCode-style problem solving than people, and because of that, the coding segment didn’t go down a typical LeetCode route.

Instead, I was given a long JSON string and asked to write code to parse it and extract the required information. I asked whether I could use Java’s Jackson ObjectMapper, and I was told I could use whatever I wanted for the open-ended task. I implemented the solution using Jackson, worked through the parsing and extraction logic, and completed the problem.

A couple weeks later I received a rejection.
