I got a HackerRank assessment and that’s where my process ended.

The questions went beyond what I expected from a standard screening—concurrency showed up alongside the more familiar algorithm-style prompts. The algorithm questions felt like an easier LeetCode level, but the concurrency parts made the whole thing feel meaningfully harder.

I got rejected at that stage, and it was pretty clear to me that this wasn’t a purely “classic coding interview” test.
