I was rejected after a phone interview that came right after an online coding challenge.

Before the call, I didn’t have operating systems knowledge, so when the phone screen turned into a basic concurrency/threading problem, I couldn’t navigate it the way they were expecting.

What frustrated me most was that it didn’t feel like they communicated early enough that this background was essential. By the time I realized I was unprepared for that type of problem, it already felt like my time had been wasted.
