My process followed the classic shape—recruiter contact first, then phone screening, and then an onsite stage—but what made it stand out was the way it ended.

After two phone interviews and waiting a while, I eventually got an update that they weren’t actually hiring for the internship role anymore due to internal reasons. That was after weeks of momentum.

Another time, everything seemed to be going well through a senior manager call and a debugging-focused technical phone screen. The interviewer even sounded genuinely impressed and said I’d move to the next technical screen, with scheduling promised through a recruiter email. A couple days later, I got told they needed someone with more experience and I couldn’t continue.
