I got an email from a recruiter to schedule a tech screen, and the technical round was a bunch of CS fundamentals.

It felt textbook-like and was done over the phone without any shared coding workspace, so they were essentially looking for pseudocode-level explanations.

The interviewer came across as inexperienced and seemed to work through a checklist rather than engaging like a real engineering conversation. The whole vibe felt more like a college-style exam than an engineering culture interview, and I couldn’t ignore that it didn’t sound great. I wasn’t offered the role.
