I interviewed for Account Executive with a relatively long, gauntlet-like process that leaned on job shadowing before culminating in manager conversations in 2013.

Initial recruiter phone call — I started with a short call about the role and my background.
Second phone interview / recruiter touchpoint — a follow-up conversation continued the screening.
In-office job shadow — I shadowed a senior sales rep to understand what the job looked like day to day.
Manager/supervisor interviews — I spoke with a manager (described as harder to read in one case) and used the shadow to loosen up and get context.
HR check (possible offer stage) — the process ended with HR involvement and a potential offer decision. Outcome: I didn’t
