Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My interview consisted of two coding rounds, and the questions were about algorithmic reasoning with fairly specific constraints.

In the first round, I worked on an array problem to find the maximum “balanced sum” subarray where the sum of the first half equals the sum of the second half. I was guided toward using prefix sums and iterating over possible midpoints so I could compute the halves quickly, with the additional constraint that the subarray length had to be even. Then I had to extend the idea to a follow-up where one adjustment element was allowed.

The second round moved into trees. I had to count subtrees in a binary tree where the height difference between left and right didn’t exceed one and the total node
