I submitted my resume and cover letter and waited a couple of weeks before receiving a HackerRank challenge.

I completed it and passed all test cases, but I didn’t get the spot afterward, which was a little surprising but not completely unexpected since I’d applied late. In a different similar rhythm, I also had a quick process: there was a short phone call, then HackerRank, and then an onsite that still happened even though it involved a relocation story due to moving because of the pandemic. Both paths emphasized the speed of moving from assessment to live interviews, and both ended without an offer even though the interactions felt friendly.
