Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I interviewed for Discord Software Engineer and got a medium, data-processing style coding task focused on log analysis and sessionization.

Practical log grouping + stats — I was given a JSON file of log events (user IDs, access times, message recipients) and wrote a program to group events into sessions using a rule where each user forms their own sessions and events fall within a 30-minute window from the first event in that session. I also computed statistics like number of events per session and the most frequently messaged recipient. I used C++ and had to work through JSON parsing unfamiliarity, but I could look things up online. Outcome: No offer result was recorded; the challenge was more about correct data
