I interviewed for a systems-related role where the HR questions were reasonable, but the technical section felt mismatched and unfocused, making the overall difficulty feel high.

HR questions — direct, sensible questions to understand my background.
Technical interview (Linux + cloud/system topics) — I was asked Linux questions that felt out of place for a systems administrator focus.
Deep dive into WordPress internals — I was also questioned about WordPress caching and plugin/application-level concepts, which didn’t align with what I expected for systems engineering.

Outcome: I didn’t move forward, and the takeaway was that question selection and alignment to the role strongly affected how the interview went.
