I got a HackerRank test shortly after applying.

I remember there wasn’t anything in writing—neither in the recruiter’s emails nor before the HR screen—that clearly said it had to be coded in a specific language like JavaScript, so I had to quickly adjust and brush up on it.

The bigger mismatch was that the test didn’t feel aligned with what I thought I was interviewing for. For a UI-focused role, I expected something more UI-oriented, but instead it was a timed coding challenge. I wasn’t able to complete it, and that early disconnect made the whole experience feel frustrating from the start.
