Capital One Software Engineer interview experience

Medium

Positive

Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My Capital One interview experience started with an online assessment of four coding questions, and then it flowed into a Power Day with multiple rounds.

The Power Day felt positive overall: the interviewer wasn’t overly confrontational and the questions seemed to align closely with what I’d practiced and what was earlier in the loop. The coding side wasn’t isolated either—it connected to the same kind of bank-and-transactions thinking that kept showing up.

In the Power Day rounds, I handled OOD design where I had to design a bank conceptually with multiple levels: creating accounts with deposits, transferring between accounts, and then supporting something like “top K” based on activity. That shifted into a higher-level design discussion
