Capital One Software Engineer interview experience

Got offer

Positive

Posted Jan 2023 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

For a senior SWE remote loop with around six years of experience, the Power Day ran like a sequence of rounds that tested different muscles.

I started with behavioral, then went into a coding round that wasn’t about generating algorithms from scratch—it involved code reading where I tied classes together.

After that came a system design round to design a banking app, and then a rapid-fire case that tested math, logic, and debugging. I passed to team matching after the Power Day progression, so the outcome was positive. What surprised me was how much the coding portion leaned toward understanding and connecting code structure, not just writing solutions.
