Capital One·Software Engineer

Capital One Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Dec 2022 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My mid/senior Power Day in Dec 2022 had a pretty clear four-part flow.

It included a coding round with a character-count-in-substring style problem, then a credit card application site design system design interview.

Next came a case focused on machine running cost and SLA tradeoffs, and it included code review using CSV data. The final step was three behavioral questions. The sequence was Power Day → coding → system design → case → behavioral, and I ended up rejected. The set of prompts felt concrete, and the mix of tradeoffs plus code review made it feel like a realistic decision-making test.
